Ryan McCann is a Los Angeles-based artist whose practice has evolved from painting into photography. Working across mediums, McCann explores the ways perception shapes our understanding of identity, memory, and human experience. His work challenges viewers to reconsider what they see, creating images that exist between representation and abstraction.

In his photographic practice, McCann has developed a distinctive process that introduces elements of unpredictability directly within the camera. McCann studied art and history at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following graduation, he briefly pursued a career in professional football with the Cincinnati Bengals before a career-ending injury redirected his focus toward the arts. Since 2004, he has exhibited nationally and internationally, and his work is included in numerous institutional and private collections.
